Monday 16th May 2022 Initial Teacher Education Morling College Principal, Ross Clifford and Christian Heritage College President, Dr Jennie Trudel

As the baby boomers retire from teaching, as a nation we face a shortfall in the supply of sufficient beginning teachers to staff our classrooms. Moreover, secular universities by their nature cannot prepare Christian people to think Christianly about their ministry of teaching, whether within the government or Christian school sectors.

Morling College in Sydney and Perth and Christian Heritage College in Brisbane are entering into a partnership to offer Initial Teacher Education (training to teach). This will be an embedded model, that is, with substantial time in, and supported by schools. Commonwealth assisted places will be available for students, while for schools the costs will be minimal. Bachelor of Education courses will be offered for school leavers, as well as Master of Teaching courses for those with relevant undergraduate degrees, and career changers. Both will offer preparation for primary and secondary teaching.

The courses are well developed and delivered through CHC with the ground support and input through Morling College.
