New Courses: Quality theological training made affordable

Wednesday 3rd June 2020 3 June 2020 Josephine Comparet

Morling College announced today the addition of two new Australian College of Theology awards, the Undergraduate Certificate of Theology and the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry, which we will be offering to new students from Semester 2 2020.

The 6-month Undergraduate Certificate is a new category introduced into the Australian Qualifications Framework as part of the Commonwealth Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government’s COVID-19 response also includes provisions that make it possible (once the legislation is enacted) for full-time students to save up to $2000 in FEE-HELP loan exemption fees, should they apply and complete the course in Semester 2 this year. Course units will be delivered in multiple modes including online and live stream, as well as on-campus if and when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Both certificate awards will prepare and equip you to reskill and upskill for ministry at church. They also provide a smooth pathway into the undergraduate degree awards should you choose to further your studies and be trained for teaching, leadership and pastoral roles at church or a Christian organisation, or pursue a postgraduate course in Theology, Ministry, Chaplaincy or Counselling upon completing your undergraduate degree.

In the Undergraduate Certificate of Theology program, you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of God through study in Theology, Languages, Church History and Christian Thought units. The units offered in the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry course will help you develop your biblical knowledge and ministry skills through study of the Bible and Christian Thought, Pastoral and Church-Focused Ministry, Developmental Ministry, and Evangelism & Mission.

All you need to apply is an ATAR of 65 or above or successful completion of a qualification at AQF level 5 or above. The College will also consider applications from students who do not meet these requirements if they are able to demonstrate suitability for the course.
