Maintenance General Assistant - Sydney Campus

Morling is looking for a suitable Maintenance General Assistant to join the Maintenance team on our Sydney Campus. This position is a valuable part of the Maintenance team. Responsible for carrying out a variety of property related tasks, the Maintenance General Assistant is vital in ensuring a high standard of maintenance, good stewardship, beauty, order and safety of the College grounds and buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Grounds Maintenance - Maintaining all external areas to acceptable safety and cleanliness standards
  2. Gardening - Maintaining the gardens across the Sydney Campus including reticulation systems to a high industry standard
  3. Functions - Prepare rooms including accommodation for meetings or special events
  4. Security - Ensure premises are secure at all times by regularly checking locks, security systems, and opening/closing and unlocking/locking relevant rooms when required
  5. Building and Equipment Maintenance - Maintain all internal and external furniture and fittings, carry out minor building and equipment repairs and plumbing and carpentry (within skill and qualification level as directed)
  6. Development Projects - In conjunction with the Property and Maintenance Officer, contribute to and work on new development projects as directed

Key Attributes:

Qualifications: None required, although qualifications in horticulture would be beneficial

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience in a gardening and horticulture or similar (Desirable)
  • Experience in building and maintenance or similar (Essential)

  • Demonstrated Christian character and active involvement in a local evangelical church
  • Alignment of personal values, beliefs and practices with the mission and Christian ethos of Morling College
  • Attitude of service and ownership of outcomes
  • IT literacy
  • Polite and courteous approach to all people
  • Able to show initiative and work proactively to ensure smooth running of the Maintenance team
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks at any point in time
  • Ability to work in team and develop unity amongst staff
