NT022 / NT023 - New Testament Apocalyptic: Revelation (English / Greek)

This unit attempts to demystify one of the most difficult to interpret books of the New Testament. It shows how this apocalypse was firmly grounded in the present of the original audience, bringing a message of hope and vindication to a marginalised minority of Jesus-followers—and how it can thus give us confidence that God is in control of our own present and future. Students will look at different interpretive approaches to the text, the Old Testament and Graeco-Roman background to Revelation’s famously bizarre imagery, and the way this text challenges its readers as to their ultimate allegiance.

Please Note: Only the English stream is available at level 5.
