GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES

Morling College Education and Counselling, Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Faculties

Preamble

Graduate attributes are the dispositions, abilities and understandings which Morling aspires to develop in the students enrolled in the awards offered by its Education and Counselling, Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care faculties,* regardless of which discipline they have studied or which course they have completed. They presuppose, but go beyond, the specific disciplinary knowledge skills that are developed through our various awards, and focus on broader qualities and capacities that we wish to see in all of our graduates.

Graduate Attributes

Our aim is that the following qualities will be developed in all of our graduates through their studies at Morling:

  • A deep understanding of the Christian faith and a commitment to the integration of faith and practice in every sphere of life.
  • A clear vision for human flourishing in God’s world and a capacity for mature and principled ethical practice, informed by a Christian worldview and lived out with an appreciation for the diversity of our contemporary cultural context.
  • A capacity for critical thinking and creative engagement with new ideas and models of practice, informed by firmly held Christian convictions.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and a capacity to work collaboratively with others.
  • Commitment to the ongoing development of knowledge, skills and insight relevant to their sphere of service, through integrative and reflective practice.
