EDL927 Practical Issues in School Leadership

Leading schools is a calling that places many demands on principals, and it is difficult be an expert in all fields. Thinking clearly about management and operations requires knowledge and skills different to thinking clearly about ethics and identity, and indeed responses to critical incidents.

This unit attempts to address the diversity of demands on school leaders and provide a platform for thinking more clearly about practical issues relating directly to school leadership. It draws upon the expertise of experienced practitioners and current research literature.

The unit is divided into three themes:

  1. Legal/ethical,
  2. Identity, and
  3. Responsivity.
