OT016 / OT017 - Wisdom Literature (English / Hebrew)

Wisdom Literature is present in various parts of the Hebrew Bible. However, it can mostly be found in the books of Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, which is the focus of this unit.

We will discover how each book is unique, making its own contribution to understanding biblical wisdom. Taken together we will discover that the unique perspectives of each book complement each other to form a rich tapestry of biblical wisdom. As we explore specific sections of each book, we will discover that some of the major themes outside the Wisdom Literature are not present, but these books possess their own set of emphases and foci.

The wisdom expressed in this literature is for every person and every age and so the unit will also consider the relevance of its content to our faith in the modern world.
