TH005 - Foundational Christian Beliefs

This unit offers an introduction to the essential beliefs of the Christian faith. It commences with a discussion of why beliefs matter, and why the historic Christian creeds were originally created, before briefly surveying key Christian doctrines, including:

  • the doctrine of God’s existence and attributes,
  • the doctrine of the Trinity,
  • the doctrines of creation and providence,
  • the doctrines of humanity and sin,
  • the doctrine of Christ’s incarnation and atonement,
  • the doctrine of the Holy Spirit,
  • the doctrine of salvation,
  • the doctrine of the church, and
  • the doctrine of the last things (i.e., Christian eschatology).

It is primarily intended for students whose course of study allows room for only one unit of systematic theology.
