We are thrilled to announce that the Australian College of Theology (ACT), with which Morling College is proudly affiliated, has been granted university status by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). Consequently, ACT will now be known as the Australian University of Theology (AUT).
A key principle that distinguishes a University is that it undertakes research at world standard. In the process of being registered as a university the research produced by affiliated colleges, including Morling College, has been evaluated and recognised as a contributor of world standard research in theology.
This significant milestone acknowledges AUT's dedication to delivering world-class theological education and research. As an affiliated college, Morling College remains committed to providing exceptional theological and ministry training. Our students will now graduate with degrees conferred by the Australian University of Theology, enhancing the recognition and value of their qualifications both nationally and internationally.
Principal Tim MacBride noted, "This milestone affirms the quality of theological education we offer at Morling. We remain committed to equipping students for faithful service in churches, communities, and the world."
Dean and CEO of the ACT Professor James Dalziel states, “At the heart of our Christian faith is a sense that we’re not about worldly status and titles. That’s an important message for Christians at all times, but as the ACT enters this new season, we need to remember that our calling is something different to just focusing on status. It’s a calling to faithfully equip people to serve God’s church and God’s world.”
