Meet Silva

Wednesday 26th May 2021

Hi, I am Silva Fakrajian. I studied a Master of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care at Morling College.

My journey at Morling began in 2017 when I decided to do my Master’s degree and enhance my knowledge and skills in pastoral care. God led me to Morling College.

I began my studies at Morling as a part time student. The following year, I was ready to take on a full time study load, so I studied full time for two years, completing my final two units online due to COVID-19, last year (2020).

When I first came to Morling College I had fears. The welcoming, encouraging, and enriching attitude of the staff and the lecturers kept me motivated to persevere and gain self-awareness, developing pastoral skills and learning to care effectively. Through my studies and my experience at Morling College, I learned to trust the Lord in every step of my ministry. I realized that this is an unending journey. To be a competent pastoral carer and co-worker with God, I needed to hold on to Him and continue my studies.

I am currently serving in the Armenian Evangelical Church as the coordinator and leader of the children, teenager’s and women’s ministry. I am also working as a hospital chaplain at Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Like all other ministries, I believe a chaplain needs to have a call from the Lord to serve and must be given a heart after God’s own heart. A heart that wills to reach out and care. I always had both but when I served as a high school chaplain, I noticed that I was missing something.

I prayed about it and Morling College was the answer to my prayer.

May the Lord bless abundantly each one who supported me during my journey at Morling College.

Have you been thinking about joining Bible College or pplying to study a course in Counselling, Chaplaincy or Education with a Christian perspective? We know this is an important decision. If you would like us to pray for you, please let us know here. God will do the rest! :)
