Morling College Introduces New Talents to its Pastoral Ministry and Leadership Training Team

Morling College extends a warm welcome to Dr Paul Kang and Rev Craig Corkill as part of their Pastoral Training team. The college, in partnership with the Baptist Association,  is delighted to have these 2 important additions to the community and emphasizes its commitment in training future pastors.

Both Dr Kang and Rev Corkill are highly experienced in their respective fields. With an extensive background in theological training , Dr Kang  has accepted the role of part time lecturer in “pastoral and practical theology”, while Rev Corkill will be a visiting lecturer in “pastoral leadership”.


Dr Paul Kang is the son of a church planter, who pastored a Korean-Australian church in Ermington for 20 years. He graduated from Homebush Boys High School before studying Philosophy and Archaeology at Sydney University. Dr Kang has further completed a Master of Divinity Seoul Theological University, before undertaking PhD studies at Biola University in California, focusing on Christian Education and Spiritual Formation.

He has had a wide experience of pastoral ministry in Australia, the USA, and South Korea, and was an Adjunct Professor lecturing in Practical Theology at Torch Trinity Graduate University in South Korea. He currently teaches some classes  in Morling’s Korean programme.

Rev Craig Corkill brings over 25 years of pastoral experience and has served as the senior pastor of Narara Valley Baptist Church for 16 years. He will be teaching  Morling’s "Leadership and Management in Christian Ministry" unit, commencing in first semester 2020. Rev Craig is currently completing a Doctor of Ministry specialising in pastoral leadership.

Principal Ross Clifford welcomes the new faculty members and says: “both Paul and Craig have proven leadership and pastoral skills and are excellent communicators. They will mentor as well as teach. They richly add to our first class Pastoral and Practical Theology team”.   

Morling’s Head of Bible and Theology, Tim MacBride,agreed, adding that it is a blessing to “work in partnership with the Baptist Association in the formation of our future pastors and leaders in the denomination”.

The two new lecturers at Morling are part of the college’s wider holistic approach to Christian education and training.
